George William Kimball

Windham – George William Kimball, 80, of Windham, NH, died Friday morning April 23, 2021 at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH.
He was born on May 7, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to Audette L. (LaFlamme) and Colonel William L. Kimball. Growing up in a military family, George lived in many places across the United States, including Syosset, New York where he graduated from Oyster Bay High School in 1958. After graduating from high school, George continued to serve in the United States Navy specializing in electronics. while stationed at the Great Lakes and Morocco. After his naval deployment ended, George moved to North Conway, New Hampshire, where he met Nancy, the love of his life. They married in 1967 and began life together in Sudbury, Massachusetts, where George worked for ITT in maintenance of the Massachusetts State Police Radio Towers while attending Northeastern University where he graduated. a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology. George and Nancy moved to Windham, New Hampshire, where George spent over 25 years working for Raytheon Marine Company. Upon retirement from Raytheon, he began North Atlantic maritime communications service vessels around the world, including the State of Maine training ship at Maine Maritime Academy, where he would also serve as a radio officer during the annual cruise for cadets.
George loved all things maritime and could spend time on the water thanks to his job and with sailing and diving friends. George also loved to travel and meet new people and had many opportunities to do so through his work and retirement. George was a jack of all trades and enjoyed the challenge of fixing any broken item and creating solutions to problems. He loved to use his talents to help his family, friends and neighbors in any way he could. He was one of the founding members of the Friends of Moeckel Pond which raised funds to rebuild the Marston-Finn Dam in Windham, NH
George is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Nancy Kimball; his children, Susan Collard and husband Shawn of Chester, NH and Bill Kimball and wife Alicia of Atkinson, NH; her grandchildren, Sydney Collard, Amelia Collard, Liana Kimball and Morgan Kimball; her nephew, Ivan Kimball of NJ; as well as many loving friends.
Call hours will be Sunday, May 2 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Parish, 2 , Searles Road, Windham, NH. Interment to follow at Windham Plain Cemetery.
