Japan shares more at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.98%
Investing.com – Japanese stocks were higher at Monday’s close as gains in sectors , and propelled stocks higher.

The biggest gainers of the session were Sompo Holdings Inc (TYO:), which rose 7.93% or 402.00 points to trade at 5,471.00 at the close. Tokyo Marine Holdings, Inc. (TYO:) added 7.64% or 518.00 points to finish at 7,300.00 and MS&AD Holdings Insurance Group (TYO:) rose 6.72% or 252.00 points to 4,000.00 late in the session.
Biggest Losers Included Toso Corp. (TYO:), which fell 4.48% or 88.00 points to trade at 1,876.00 late in the session. Chiyoda Corp. (TYO:) fell 3.99% or 18.00 points to end at 433.00 and JGC Corp. (TYO:) lost 3.53% or 62.00 points to 1,693.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered falling stocks by 2699 to 865 and 215 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, fell 5.66% to 23.68.
In commodities trading, crude oil for July delivery rose 0.86% or 0.95 to $111.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for August delivery rose 1.00% or 1.10 to $111.09 a barrel, while June gold futures rose 0.63% or 11.66 to trade at $1,853.76 per troy ounce.
USD/JPY fell 0.17% to 127.64, while EUR/JPY rose 0.29% to 135.40.
US dollar index futures fell 0.54% to 102.62.
