Jeff Penn charged with stabbing 65-year-old man with kitchen knife in Boston, police say

A 19-year-old Hyde Park man has been arrested for stabbing a 65-year-old man who was found with a kitchen knife lodged in his back earlier this month, Boston police said on Saturday.
Jeff Penn was arrested at around 5 p.m. on Friday and is charged with assault with intent to kill a victim over 60 and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He should be brought to justice in Roxbury District Court, police said.
On August 7, officers responded to a call about a person shot dead with a nail gun in the 9 Christy Lane area of Hyde Park. When police arrived at the scene, they found the 65-year-old man bleeding from a stabbing. The man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
“It was later determined that the victim was stabbed with an apparent kitchen knife which got stuck in his back, taking on the appearance of a nail,” police said in a statement.
Detectives identified Penn as the suspect and obtained search warrants for two vehicles, Penn’s residence and for Penn himself, police said.
Officers monitored the car the suspect was driving at the time of the incident. Police carried out a traffic stop and Penn was taken to the police station, the statement said.
