PFDA and CDA extend “isDA ON THE GO” – Manila Bulletin
The Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) will partner with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) to expand isDA ON THE GO (iOTG) operations nationwide.
A memorandum of understanding between the PFDA and the CDA will soon be drafted to initiate cooperation between the two agencies, in particular to extend the iOTG nationwide.
A technical working group will also be developed as part of the cooperation, PFDA said.
Launched in 2019, iOTG, PFDA’s flagship program, is part of the “Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita” marketing initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture (DA).
As a reminder, “Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita” aims to lower the price of basic agricultural products, such as seafood, by providing a direct link between farmers and fishermen to identified communities.
When meeting with PFDA officials, CDA President Joseph Encabo suggested launching the iOTG program with CDA in October, as this will coincide with Cooperation Month.
It is estimated that 60 cooperatives in Metro Manila will participate in the initial phase of the isDA ON THE GO partnership of the PFDA-CDA project, with more planned for 2022.
CDA is the government agency responsible for ensuring the sustained growth and full development of Philippine cooperatives so that they become broad-based instruments of social justice, equity and balanced national progress.
